We decided to install closet systems in all of our bedroom closets and coat closets just before we moved in to our home. By using the ideas from Karen and Scott on how to maximize the space in each closet, we were able to eliminate dressers in each of the bedrooms. This gave us more room to put bigger desks with computers in each of our kids rooms and allowed them to have more room to hang out. We also saved money when we purchased new bedroom furniture because we did not have as many pieces to buy. We also installed shelves and cubby holes in our coat closets to accommodate all of our coats, mittens, hats, etc., and still have room for a vacuum and cleaning items. "My wife and I did a lot of shopping around for a closets system after deciding we'd get rid of the monster IKEA units we've had forever. I had finally settled on one we liked from (a large organization store), but I wasn't crazy about putting it all together on my own. It wasn't cheap to begin with, and my closet area wasn't a standard size—the drawers and stuff are all set sizes—so after thinking it over we decided to pass on it. Then I met the guys from Closets by Karen through a client of mine, and told them about my situation. Next day (no joke!) they came to my condo, measured everything, and a day later I was looking at a 3D drawing of my new closet and picking out finishes and stuff. I thought it was going to be much more expensive than the closet system I had been ready to buy, but was pleasantly surprised when the numbers came out to about the same—including installation! Then, of course, we figured we'd get a little fancy and spring for the higher-end drawer handles. Totally worth it in my opinion. Two weeks later we had our new closet installed and ready for use. Now we actually have more space than we know what to do with (I'm sure we'll fill it somehow) AND the closet looks great!
